In these crazy times when we know one thing for certain, love will always find a way! Our lovely Bri’Zan Bride Lily and her husband Clay have been zigging and zagging since they met and chose not to let a little thing like a global pandemic get in the way of their wedding day.

Tell us how you met!

We met at our workplace. We are both elementary SPED teachers at Giant Steps (a therapeutic day school for students with autism).

We found our jobs serendipitously. Special education wasn’t our primary ambition until we started working at Giant Steps. We ended up falling in love with the field and the special needs community, so we both carried on to get an MA in special education... together.

How did Covid change your wedding day?

Our wedding was planned to basically be a giant party, but the pandemic hit and changed our entire outlook. Rather than 250 people, we had just 6 people physically attend (our immediate family). Our wedding was celebrated virtually by our friends and family from around the world. Although it wasn’t what we planned, the entire day ended up being incredibly relaxed and intimate. It was perfect!

Know yourself and prepare for that. I know how much I hate when other people do my hair and makeup because only I know exactly how my hair falls or skin reacts. Therefore, I just did it myself. It wasn’t amazing make up or hair, but why bother stressing out about someone else doing it? I knew what I could let go and what I couldn’t. We had a stress free day because I took care of what I needed myself and then let the day run its course.

Try on things you didn’t think you’d like. I never imagined myself with the layering my dress had. It was by chance it landed in my pile of picks.
